This Privacy Policy explains what information Strop ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the Strop application (the "App"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Strop, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided) via our authentication provider, Clerk. If you choose to sign in with Google, Clerk receives basic profile information from Google (name, email, profile photo) to create your account — we do not access your Google Calendar, Gmail, or other Google Workspace data. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Clerk receives your name and email address from Apple; if you use Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your real email.
Content you create. We store the tasks and habits you create in the App (called "chops" and "strops"), including titles, descriptions, due dates, recurrence settings, and completion history, so the App can function and so your data persists across sessions and devices.
Diagnostic information. If the App encounters an error, it may send a report to our server containing the error message, technical details, your account ID, your device model, operating system version, and the App version. We use these reports only to find and fix problems.
Subscription and billing information. If you subscribe to Strop, purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store — we do not receive or store your payment card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives purchase and entitlement information (e.g., which product you purchased, subscription status, renewal dates) from the App Store/Play Store on our behalf, and shares that status with us so the App can unlock the features you've paid for.
We use the information above to: provide and maintain the App; authenticate you and keep your account secure; sync your tasks and habits across your devices; process and validate subscriptions; send you a short series of onboarding emails after you sign up (every email includes an unsubscribe link); respond to support requests; and improve the App's reliability and functionality. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your task/habit content to train any AI or machine learning model.
We share limited information with the following service providers, each acting on our behalf:
We do not use any advertising, analytics, or AI-processing services, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active, so the App can function as intended. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account); this removes your tasks, habits, completion history and account profile from our servers and deletes your sign-in account. Deleting your account does not cancel an active App Store subscription — you can cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are governed by their own retention policies. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and secure credential storage — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Strop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated within the App where practical.
